A different approach to mental health care, shaped by both clinical experience and lived understanding.

Most people who find their way to this work have already tried many paths.

They have followed recommendations.
They have taken medications.
They have shown up to therapy.

And yet something still feels unresolved.

This is where my work begins.

My name is Vanessa Arvizu, and I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over a decade of experience in behavioral health.

I am also a veteran, a mother, and someone who understands that mental health is not just clinical—it is deeply personal.
These experiences have shaped how I show up in this work.
Not just as a provider, but as a human being who understands what it means to search for healing.

My training includes:

  • trauma-informed care
  • ketamine-assisted psychotherapy
  • psychiatric evaluation and treatment
  • nervous system regulation and breathwork
  • ongoing advanced study in integrative mental health

I continue to deepen my education through advanced training in integrative psychiatry and whole-person approaches to healing.

WHY I DO THIS WORK

Early in my career, I began to notice a pattern.

Many people were receiving treatment, but not experiencing meaningful change.

They were managing symptoms.

But still felt disconnected, overwhelmed, or stuck.

At the same time, I was navigating my own journey.

I understand what it feels like to:

→ search for answers
→ try different approaches
→ put in effort and still feel like something is missing

That experience shaped how I practice today.

It reinforced that healing requires more than symptom management.

It requires a deeper process.

I integrate:

  • psychiatry
  • neuroscience
  • nervous system regulation
  • therapeutic integration
  • mind–body awareness and bioenergetic patterns of stress and regulation

This approach recognizes that emotional health is not only cognitive, but deeply connected to the body and the nervous system.

The goal is not just symptom reduction.

The goal is to help people reconnect with themselves, restore internal balance, and create lasting shifts in how they experience their lives.

I believe people are not broken.
I believe the brain and nervous system are capable of change.
I believe healing is possible, even after years of trying.
And I believe that with the right support, people can reconnect with themselves in a way that feels real and lasting.
